A global telecommunications operator actively participating since 1976 in the development of the telecommunications sector in the United Arab Emirates. The UAE's telecommunications sector is the most highly developed in the region, with state telecommunications giant Emirates Telecommunication Corporation also being one of the region's top companies. Through its affiliate, Thuraya, Emirates Telecommunication Corporation it launched its own satellite in 2000, this being intended to serve up to 1.9 million users in 49 countries from the Atlantic to the Indian sub-continent and Central Asia. Emirates Telecommunication Corporation has provided Internet services to the UAE since August 1995. The country now has one of the highest rates of Internet usage in the Middle East. At the end of March 1999 Emirates Telecommunication Corporation launched its value-added Internet roaming service which allows Internet dial-up customers to travel anywhere in the world and access their home Internet Service Provider (ISP), read and retrieve e-mail messages and browse the World Wide Web, all at the cost of a local call. This was made possible through the Global Roaming Internet Center (GRIC), a worldwide alliance of ISPs of which Emirates Internet is a member. Thuraya is the region's largest satellite telecommunication project. The mobile satellite communications network system will cater to 1.8 million users in 49 countries in the Middle East, north Africa, eastern Europe, central Asia and the subcontinent. The first two Thuraya satellites were launched respectively in October 2000 and June 2003, and a third satellite is being built. Thuraya services will be offered via handheld, vehicular and fixed terminals. Thuraya's flexible dual-mode (GSM and satellite) handsets will provide advanced voice, data, fax, messaging and location determination services.


Develops, plans and implements the IT strategy in order to support the business objectives of kanartel to ensure the continuous automation and enhancement of both software and hardware systems. Ensures cost- effectiveness, quality and efficiency of IT systems and equipment. Demonstrates strong project management skills and expertise in various hardware and software System applicable for a large telecom services organization.


Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Electronics or related discipline. 10 – 12 years in managing a whole range of IT functions for a large telecom services organizations. Exposure to competitive environment beneficial. Exhibits the ability to translate technology into business solutions. Project Management Skills. Strong knowledge of hardware server market, database and other software components that are essential to drive a telecom business unit. Strong negotiation skills. Communication and presentation skills. General Management skills.
